About the car

One glance at this extraordinary Mercedes 320 A Cabriolet and it becomes clear that this is no ordinary car, but a piece of living history – a symbol of timeless elegance, supreme engineering and pure passion.
Delivered in 1938, this car has seen some turbulent times. Confiscated during the Second World War and later based in the GDR, it was finally sold to Belgium by the government in 1985 due to an acute shortage of foreign currency. At that time still in need of restoration, it began a second, glorious phase of its life.
Between 1985 and 1992, the convertible was completely restored in painstaking detail at one of the most renowned Mercedes restoration companies – supported by the Mercedes Classic Centre in Fellbach. Both the wooden frame and the engine were extensively overhauled to restore the vehicle to its original majestic condition.
Since then, the Mercedes has been shining in its former glory.

Until 2010, it remained with its first post-war owner, who drove it carefully and covered only around 2,500 kilometres in 18 years. The current owner, who has owned the vehicle since 2014, has used it with love and dedication on selected club outings. In total, only about 8,000 km have been covered since the restoration – clear evidence of the careful maintenance.
Today, this Mercedes-Benz 320 A Cabriolet is in fantastic condition, the likes of which are extremely rare. It has been known in collector circles for decades and is considered one of the few original cabriolets from the legendary W142 series.
